Now Reading: The Castle of Otranto, by Horace Walpole

By Tim Gamble
     Between Shadows and Light.

My copy.
One of my goals in 2025 is to read more. I am starting my reading journey with Horace Walpole's
The Castle of Otranto (Amazon link). It will be my first time reading this classic novel, and I am eagerly looking forward to it.

For those who don't know, The Castle of Otranto, published in 1764, is generally considered the first Gothic novel. It is credited with creating the genre that includes Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein" (Amazon link), Brom Stocker's Dracula (Amazon link), and the many works of Edgar Allan Poe (Amazon link). All of these are on my 2025 reading list. Join me, if you dare.

I will do a full review of the novel at some point after I finish reading it.

Here's to a great literary 2025!
