Theology Professor Fired By Christian College For Stating That Homosexuality Is A Sin

2-2-2024 United Kingdom - Dr. Aaron Edwards, a Professor of Theology at Cliff College in Derbyshire, England, was recently fired for a X (Twitter) post referring to homosexuality as sin. Cliff College is a small, supposedly Christian, college offering a variety of undergraduate courses in Biblical Theology. 

In January, Edwards shared on X that “Homosexuality is invading the Church. Evangelicals no longer see the severity of this because they’re busy apologizing for their apparently barbaric homophobia, whether or not it’s true. This is a ‘Gospel issue,’ by the way. If sin is no longer sin, we no longer need a Saviour.”

After Edwards made the post, Cliff College released a statement, calling the post “unacceptable” and “inappropriate.” Edwards was later suspended, then fired, by the college. Apparently college officials also threatened to refer Edwards to the U.K. government’s counter terrorism and hate speech unit. Edwards is currently suing Cliff College for unfair firing and compensation under England’s Equality Act.
