Thoughts on the Russia - Ukraine War

3-28-2022 -  I know people in my personal life who immigrated to the USA from Ukraine. Likewise, I know people in my personal life who immigrated to the USA from Russia. I have a good friend who is Russian and still lives in Russia (he is ex- Russian military). I also know a couple of folks (not as well) who live in Odessa, Ukraine. 

Needless to say, I have heard from all sides in the current Russia-Ukraine War, and have even had "reports on the ground" from inside both Ukraine and Russia as to what is actually happening. Comparing what I am being told to what is being reported in the media is sickening. The amount of bad information, misinformation, and out-right propaganda is staggering. My opinion of Western media, never high, has sunk to all-time lows. 

War is horrible. War terrible. But those words aren't sufficient to describe war. What is worse is that war is always hardest on the innocents - the common folk who were just trying to live their lives before their "leaders" took actions and made decisions that destroyed their world. 

I take no sides in this war. It is a European war, and one of a long cycle of wars in this region. My opinion is that the USA has "no dog in this fight," so let the Europeans fight it out. The more the USA interferes, the greater the chances this escalates into World War III. If it does, the suffering to the entire world will be greater than anyone can imagine.

Knowing the history of the region, and the politics of this particular conflict, I will say that neither side is completely right, or completely wrong. We Americans like things to be "black and white," therefore easy to understand. We want the Good Guys and the Bad Guys to be obvious and unambiguous, so we can root for Team Good Guys. But in this conflict, the truth is very ambiguous - open to many interpretations. Another reason to stay out of this war, in my opinion. 

The leaders on both sides are to blame, not the people. Pray for peace. Pray for a quick end to this conflict. Pray for the people - both Ukrainian and Russian - who are caught in the middle of a war they didn't start.

USA.life is a good Facebook alternative, and I can be found there at https://usa.life/TimGamble instead of on Facebook (I deleted my FB account). USA.life is a privacy-respecting, free speech social media platform that looks and feels very similar to Facebook. It can do everything Facebook can do (long posts, comments, likes, pictures, videos, groups, etc.) except for live streaming. It is still relatively small, but I hope to see some of you there.

Their decades long history of ideological propaganda instead of news is truly shocking.

DuckDuckGo Jumps On the Censorship Bandwagon?

Rob Braxman, the tech expert, entrepreneur and hacker who bills himself as the "Internet Privacy Guy," is reporting that the search engine DuckDuckGo has "gone woke" and is censoring search results to favor a Leftist agenda. "What's up with DuckDuckGo? Just did a few tests and I clearly see censorship" stated Braxman. He goes into more details in a video he released a few days ago:

DuckDuckGo is an alternative to Big Tech search engines such as Google and Bing. It has been extremely popular with the Right and others due to its emphasis on privacy and, we assumed, its lack of Google-style censorship. According to Braxman, DuckDuckGo appears to remain a good privacy choice, but its days of not censoring conservative viewpoints are over. 

What are our alternatives? Braxman has long recommended StartPage and continues to do so. He also says that DuckDuckGo remains a good privacy option, but we need to remember that its results are now biased against conservatives and viewpoints opposing those of the Left. 

I personally use Brave Search (still in Beta, but open to the public) and Qwant (European-based, so it is governed by stricter EU privacy laws) as my main search engines. I also occasionally use StartPage and DuckDuckGo. I never use Google, Bing, or Yahoo search engines, and haven't in many years.  

There are other alternatives. You may be interested in reading my recent article Privacy and Anti-Censorship Alternatives to Google, written before Braxman made me aware of DuckDuckGo's drift to the Dark Side.

India: Christian Pastor Brutally Murdered

Christian Pastor Murdered in Central India

03/19/2022 India (International Christian Concern) – Yalam Sankar, a Christian pastor, has been brutally murdered in Angampalli village, Bijhapur district of Chhattisgarh state, Central India. Last Thursday, five masked men broke into the pastor’s house, dragged him out, and stabbed him to death. The body was taken to the coroner and will be handed over to his family. The 50-year-old pastor is survived by his wife, two sons, and grandchildren. The family and the entire Christian community in the region are appalled and devastated.

According to sources reaching out to International Christian Concern (ICC), Pastor Shankar was the Senior Pastor of BCM (Bastar for Christ Movement) Church in Angampalli. He was a former sarpanch of the village and a very influential person. He was known to defend Christians from the radical Hindu nationalists. A local Christian who wished to remain anonymous told ICC, “the Christians in this area have been facing intense opposition from the radical Hindu nationalists. Several times Pastor Shankar defended Christians from radical Hindu nationalists, and that could be the reason for this extreme form of persecution of killing.”

Local Christians confirmed that two days back, the local radical Hindu nationalists threatened Pastor Yalam Shankar that they would kill him if he continued to preach the Christian faith. Christians in Chhattisgarh state have been facing severe persecution following the hate speeches of right-wing organizations and their political leaders. We pray for the grieving family members of Pastor Shankar and the Christian community in the state.

Democratic Republic of Congo: Muslim Jihadists Kill 52 People

Jihadists Kill 52 Civilians in Northeastern DRC

03/19/2022 DRC (International Christian Concern) – Between Sunday, March 13, and Monday, March 14, armed insurgents killed 52 people in attacks on the Irumu province in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).   

In an interview for HumAngle Media, Christophe Munyanderu, local coordinator of the Convention for the Respect of Human Rights (CRDH) in Irumu, said of the Sunday attack, “The villages attacked were Carriere where eight civilians were lost, Apakoluy where four civilians were killed, Apamayaya recorded two deaths, and Kimautu where five deaths were reported.” 

He continued, “On Monday, March 15, Apende and Ndimo villages were also targets of ADF attacks resulting in 18 and 15 civilian deaths, respectively. In total, 52 civilians were killed between Sunday and Monday.”   

For years, dozens of armed militias have wreaked havoc in the DRC, a predominately Christian nation. The largest among these groups is the ADF, an affiliate of ISIS who aims to create an Islamic Caliphate in Central Africa. 

A senior military official, asking to remain anonymous, expressed his frustration about the most recent attacks. He said, “Fifty-two civilians is a very high death toll. It hurts to the core. If all the alerts by the civilian population were taken into consideration, the ADF would not have killed that many civilians.”  

Please continue to pray for the healing of those traumatized by violence in the DRC, and for the Lord to comfort those who are grieving the loss of loved ones. Please also pray for the Lord to strengthen government protection over its people and bring peace to the nation, and for the love of Jesus to redeem the souls of those who persecute the church.

President Donald Trump has released the following statement on Fake News reports surrounding his Presidency and NATO:

03/16/22 - People forget so quickly, with the help of the Fake News, that it was me that got the 20 out of 28 delinquent NATO countries to start paying the money that they owed in order to rebuild a floundering NATO. Nobody knew things would happen so rapidly, but NATO was poor and now it is rich, and all of the Fake News commentators that said Trump was tearing down NATO should be ashamed of themselves for telling lies. Not only was the United States being taken advantage of by the EU on trade, but it was forced to pay the costs of the many delinquent NATO countries. Bush and Obama did nothing but make speeches and talk—I acted, and acted strongly. I said to them, “if you don’t pay up, no protection.” They all paid up, and paid up quickly. It’s a story that’s never reported, but that’s only because we have a corrupt press in our Country!

Interestingly on the show I told them this would happen because Big Tech and the Fake News Media fear the truth, they fear criticism about Biden, and above all, they don’t want to talk about the Rigged 2020 Presidential Election, all topics discussed. In Russia, the people are not allowed to know that they’re fighting a war with Ukraine, that’s where our media is going, and that’s where our Country is going because it quickly follows—just study history. 20-year-old Convert was the Daughter of Muslim Clergy

03/08/2022 Iraq (International Christian Concern) –The 20-year-old daughter of a Muslim Cleric who converted to Christianity was found murdered on March 7 in northern Iraq. The assassination of Iman Sami, who was known as Maria, is suspected to have been retaliation by her family following a TikTok video she posted where she was singing Christian spiritual songs.  

Jeff King, ICC’s President, shared his concern that “For someone born as a Muslim to be open about exploring Christianity is a tremendous act of bravery, as most Muslim Background Believers (MBBs) in the region face intense pressure from both their families and communities. Maria’s TikTok post should not have ended with her death. Iraq is just emerging from a very difficult time when Christians experienced a horrific genocide. It is an important step toward healing for Iraq to pursue an investigation of due process into issues related to freedom of speech and religion.”  

A Christian close to Maria said, “A member of my Bible study group gave her a Bible last month. Mostly she turned to Christianity, and her family knew because of this video she posted on TikTok.” 

Christian news site Ankawa Today published on Facebook, “Iman Sami, known as Maria, was found by the police last night. She suffered in her life because of her early marriage, where she drowned in marriage at the age of only 12 years. After separation from her husband, she lived alone. She was an activist in the field of women’s rights and a brave woman. She has videos on the TikTok app that reached hundreds of thousands of views. Her brother and uncle killed her yesterday!”  

The murder of Maria was discovered just one day after Iraq’s National Day of Coexistence and Tolerance, a day declared on the anniversary of Pope Francis’ visit last year. Iraq’s Christian community continues to suffer the severe consequences of the ISIS genocide, and Muslim Background Believers are specifically at a high risk of targeted violence because of their conversion to Christianity. The persecution faced by Iraq’s Christian community has forced most to flee the country.

Censored News: "Fact Checkers"

As reported by The National Pulse and other alternative media outlets, here is a good way to make sure the "facts" are always "checked" in your favor...

Many of the "fact checkers" employed by Big Tech and Big Media are similarly biased, funded by liberal organizations, individuals (George Soros is a big funder of fact checkers), and corporations with a vested interested in suppressing certain information or promoting certain points-of-view. Much of the suppression of news and the censorship of individuals is taking place due to that bias. We cannot trust the fact checkers.

Be aware of that bias whenever you see social media or news organizations "fact check" news stories, information, and individuals. Often times it is the fact checkers themselves that are providing misinformation and fake news. Never accept information solely because it is being promoted by someone in authority. (See my article: Question Authority - Don't Blindly Trust Experts). Check multiple sources, consider possible biases and use your own commonsense.

Spotting Antifa, FBI, and Other Infiltrators At Patriot Rallies and Protests

As various protests and trucker convoys continue around the country, this bit of good advice is circulating around Gettr (follow me: @TimGamble), Gab (follow me: @TimGamble), and other conservative-friendly social media platforms: 

  

Protesting Patriots Show Their Faces

We have plenty of proof from the Tea Party Movement of a decade ago, to the more recent Trump rallies, to the Jan. 6, 2021 events, that the "other side" is more than willing to infiltrate conservative protests to spy, to instigate, and even to attempt false flag moments in order to disrupt and discredit conservative movements. Remember all those racist signs at Tea Party protests that the media showed over and over again? Every single one of them was later proven to be made and held by Democrats or other leftist operatives pretending to be Tea Party members. Similar things were happening at the Canadian trucker protests last month, and will happen at future protests. 

True patriots exercising their constitutional rights to Free Speech and Free Assembly have no reason to hide their faces. Peaceful, non-violent protests are a 100% legal and morally acceptable way to raise awareness of issues and attempt to influence the political process. This is accepted by the media, politicians, and law enforcement when it is the Left protesting (even when those protests do include looting, rioting, and burning entire blocks). But whenever the Right does it (without the looting, rioting, and burning), protests are suddenly unacceptable and must be stopped at all costs - even if it means instigating or even creating the excuses to shut down right-wing protests. 

Here are a few quick tips to spotting a potential infiltrator:

• The unknown person who shows up at the protest unannounced, acting as if they are everyone's best friend and a long-standing supporter of the group/movement. Yet no one knows them.
• The unknown person who wears a facemask, won't show any ID, and obviously is trying to avoid having their picture taken.
• The person who says all the right things to make it seem they are part of the group, but also seems to be trying hard to "push the buttons" of the group or individuals to get other people to do or say something racist or violent. 
• The person that shows up with a sign that is racist or threatening violence, or that is otherwise off-message for the protest. 
• The person who tries to get the group to suddenly change plans and to do something or go somewhere that had not already planned. Stick to your preplanned agenda. 
• The person who gets overly-emotional or uses over-the-top rhetoric, especially if they seem to be trying to get others to follow their lead. 
• The person who advocates violence or illegal activity. 

What to do if you think someone is an infiltrator? First, peacefully confront them about their behavior, signs, language, etc. Ask them to remove their facemask. Ask them to identify themselves. Notify protest leaders and organizers of a potential problem. Let other protestors know of the potential infiltrator. Take photos of them, especially ones without their face hidden. Take videos of their actions. Denounce them, their language, and their actions. 

Most importantly, don't let them influence the group. Stick to your pre-planned activities. Don't go along with their ideas or theatrics.

China: Woman Detained for Attempting to Share Gospel with President Xi Jinping

Chinese Woman Detained for Attempting to Share Gospel with Xi Jinping

03/06/2022 China (International Christian Concern) – A Christian woman in China was detained for her repeated attempt to share the good news with Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan.

The Dalian native was sent back to Liaoning province by the police after her action in Beijing. She was subsequently detained. On Feb. 20, Zhou Jinxia went to Zhongnanhai in Beijing, the central headquarters for the Communist Party of China and the State Council of China, holding up sign asking Xi Jinping to believe in Jesus.

The police in charge arrested her, before Dalian police brought her back to Dalian. She was criminally detained and charged with “picking quarrels and provoking trouble” on Feb. 21. Her family received the notice of her criminal detention from Dalian’s Public Security Bureau’s Xigang Branch on Mar. 1.

According to China Aid, in recent years, Zhou has attempted to share the good news with her Chinese leader for more than 50 times. As early as March 2015, Zhou was detained for ten days for her evangelism activities. In March 2016 and March 2018, she was detained again for the same charge.

Every March, Beijing hosts its lianghui (“Two Sessions”), where thousands of delegates from across the country attend sessions of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, essentially a political theatrical showcase highlighting upcoming policy direction. The Chinese government usually intensifies its crackdown against civil society to ensure everything goes on smoothly without accident.

Beginning October 2020, Zhou has resided in Fengtai district’s Xiaobailou village in Beijing. She actively shares the gospel and is involved in her church. On June 27, 2021, she was driven away by local leaders and police, while her amenities of daily life were confiscated. As someone whose house was forcibly demolished by the government, Zhou is not unfamiliar with the injustice in China.
