Question Authority - Don't Blindly Trust Experts

By Tim Gamble

A few days ago, I posted a quote from Winston Churchill on the dangers of rule by "experts" (also known as technocracy, or rule by technocrats). I want to take a look at closer look at the problem of experts  and why we shouldn't turn over control of our government, economy, and lives to them.

First, a reminder of the quote:

"Nothing would be more fatal than for the government of states to get into the hands of experts. Expert knowledge is limited knowledge: and the unlimited ignorance of the plain man who knows only what hurts is a safer guide, than any vigorous direction of a specialised character. Why should you assume that all except doctors, engineers, etc. are drone or worse?"  -- Winston Churchill, in a letter to H. G. Welles

Letting experts run things might sound like a good idea to many people. After all, they are the experts - highly educated and knowledgeable, and above petty influences like money, politics, ideology, or personal gain. Their ways, such as the scientific method, peer review, and tenure, are designed to remove bias, guarantee neutrality, and achieve the best results. We are told throughout our lives that we should admire and respect experts. We can trust them to make the best decisions possible.

Or can we? Here are a few things to keep in mind about the experts.

Experts may be highly educated and knowledgeable in their particular field, but that doesn't carry over to other fields. Their knowledge is often "a mile deep but an inch wide."

Experts naturally focus on their specialty, which limits their understanding of the larger situation. They often fail to "see the big picture" and "miss the forest for the trees." They don't consider or even realize all the potential ramifications and unintended consequences of their solutions.

Experts rarely make good leaders, because leadership requires an understanding of the larger situation, of how all the pieces need to fit together. A leader has to be able to see the forest, not just the trees. In this sense, expertise (detailed knowledge) and leadership (big picture) are polar opposites.

Experts are humans, same as anyone else. Experts can make mistakes, same as all of us. Experts can be biased by their personal beliefs, values, and even fears, same as the rest of us. Experts may allow their personal motivations, such as career aspirations or even petty office politics, to influence their work. Experts are not immune to peer pressure, or to pressure from their bosses or funding sources. Experts are not above being influenced by money, politics, or ideology.

Winston Churchill was trying to explain all of this to H. G. Welles. Churchill's point was that the very thing that makes experts so useful - their expert knowledge - also limits them in a way that requires the commonsense and practicality of the plain man. A government of experts would be fatal, in Churchill's opinion.

Sadly, the modern system doesn't value commonsense and practicality in the same way it values expertise. Instead, we put experts on a pedestal, declare them unquestionable, and deny or make excuses when reality proves their theories wrong. We are told to "not question the science" and to obediently follow the dictates of the scientists.

Encouraged by both Socrates and Timothy Leary, the idea of "questioning authority" was once considered a value. Now doing so may get you banned from social media, fired from your job, and even investigated by the FBI as a potential domestic terrorist (just ask any number of parents who dared question the policies of the experts on their school boards). Dissent is NOT allowed in 2022.

We are lurching ever closer to the scientific dictatorship of technocracy. We are losing our freedoms and surrendering ownership of our lives in the name of the Common Good, without ever being allowed to question if it is really good or not.

Ronald Reagan on Individual Accountability

"We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions." -- Ronald Reagan, 40th President of the United States of America

Technocracy, The Power Elite, and the Transformation of Human Civilization

By Tim Gamble

Technology is the tool being used so successfully by the Power Elites to control the masses. This intersection of technology and power (government and corporate) needs to be examined and understood if we are to protect ourselves and our families, and resist the transformation of human civilization.

On the Technocracy News website is a great Technocracy Quick Start Guide that explains what technocracy is, what its goals are, and gives a brief outline of its history. I highly recommend reading it, and exploring their website.

What is Technocracy?  Technocracy is a movement, an economic system, and a proposed form of government, that started in the 1930s at Columbia University. It is also a form of social engineering. Its primary goal is to replace free enterprise and capitalism with a resource-based system using energy credits as its basic accounting units, rather than traditional forms of currency. (Does this sound familiar? It is found in the carbon tax / cap-and-trade schemes of the climate change enthusiasts.)

This new economic system would be run by technocrats - scientists and other so-called "experts" - who would control 100% of the means of production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. (Sounds similar to Marxism, doesn't it?)

In a more dystopian twist, the "experts" running the system would include artificial intelligence and computer algorithms making many of the decisions, rather than actual people.

A major goal of this new economic system is sustainable development, also known as the "Green Economy." (Another term that should sound familiar.)

Under this new economic system, cities would be retrofitted into "Smart Cities" (yet another familiar term if you are paying attention) with massive surveillance systems used to control the populace. (Sounds kind of like a Police State, huh?)

Another goal is the end of rural living, as everyone will be forced to live in these smart cities. Yes, that means you. At least that is their plan.

Social credit systems, similar to what is already being used by the Chinese, will be global. Your ability to get a job, get an education, afford a home, get medical care, even to get married or have children, will depend on maintaining a favorable social score. Your level of Internet access will even be determined by your social score, as will your ability to travel.

National borders will become obsolete. In fact, the very concept of a nation-state will come to an end.

The plan is to eventually do away with elected governments and constitutions. Elected politicians will be obsolete, which sounds good until you remember that they will be replaced with unelected, unaccountable technocrats, artificial intelligence, and algorithms.

We are talking about a Scientific Dictatorship in charge of 100% of the economy, political system, and legal system. And, remember, we are NOT supposed to question Science.

Should we abandon technology? No. The problem isn't technology. Technology is only the tool. Blaming technology for the actions of the Power Elite makes as little sense as blaming the gun for the action of the criminal. Besides, the genie has already escaped the bottle, and there is no putting it back.

We need to understand what is being done to us, and how it is being done. And then we need to focus our efforts against those people trying to control us with technology and social engineering. (There is also an important-to-understand concept called Mass Formation Psychosis which will be the topic of a future article.)

Who are the Power Elite? In short, they are the "bad guys." They are the ones trying to control the masses for their own profit and power.

Power Elite is a term first used in the 1950s by the American sociologist C. Wright Mills to describe a loose-knit group of government, military, and corporate leaders who are the center of wealth and power in the USA, and therefore tend to dominate American political policies.

Over the decades, the USA Power Elite have increasingly cooperated with the Power Elite from other Western Nations to push a globalist, technocratic agenda. Since at least the 1990s, China has used their money and access to their vast markets to exert influence over the Power Elite, a situation made even easier by the Power Elites' admiration for the Chinese system of highly centralized, authoritarian control. The type of control they want to implement in the USA and throughout the world.

The Power Elite are fractionally a very small segment of the population, yet they control a vast amount of wealth and power. And they have many "useful tools" on their side in academia, the media, union leadership, throughout pop culture, and amongst the many "social justice" warriors.
