2-1-2021 - Twitter suspended the "Daily Citizen" account of the Christian organization Focus on the Family, accusing the organization of promoting violence by using hate speech in a January 19 tweet. The tweet in question reads as follows: "On Tuesday, President-Elect Joe Biden announced that he had chosen Dr. Rachael Levine to serve as Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of HHS. Dr. Levine is a transgender woman, that is, a man who believes he is a woman.”
The tweet is factually correct, and it is worth noting that Dr. Levine is open about being transsexual. Numerous other media outlets also reported the appointment of Dr. Levine, often praising the appointment of a transsexual to a relatively high position within the Biden administration.
Focus on the Family was the only organization censored for mentioning Dr. Levine's transsexual status. Nothing in the tweet encourages or promotes violence against Dr. Levine in particular, or against transsexuals in general. Twitter appears to have singled out Focus on the Family for reasons they have not yet explained.
